About

My name is Bob Zidlicky, AKA Rowbear, a nickname I picked up from some friends from my Army days. They were merely using the French pronunciation of my given name, Robert. French was my major in college. My friends were convinced I was a first-rate French linguist and were always trying to get me to speak it when we went out to French restaurants and shops when we were stationed in Europe together. Anyway, Rowbear came to be my "handle" on many news lists to which I subscribed (remember news lists, from the "early" days of computing, before the Internet and social media?). I served in the US Army for almost 23 years, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer Three (CW3) on 1 September 1996. Gee, it seems like only yesterday. Most of that time was spent in the logistics field, first the medical supply arena, then later in the Quartermaster Corps as a Property Book Officer when I became a Warrant Officer. We now live in San Antonio, Texas, where I worked as a contractor for the US Army Medical Information Technology Center, at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. I am now fully retired.
